As I wrap of this 12 days of Christmas blog series, I started to look back at all of the sessions I’ve done since my “Holiday Season” began. One special one continued to stand out as a favorite of 2011. I’m happy to share some of these images with two people who I hope to remain in touch with as their lives together moves forward.

Jesse and Alicia contacted me mid – year, in hopes of finding a photographer for their November 12th wedding. We met for coffee and I knew after 10 minutes of talking with them that I really wanted to photograph their wedding! These two are so wonderfully genuine! I love each of their personalities individually and appreciate their cohesiveness as a couple. They have the right amount of balance in their relationship and I much enjoyed spending time with them as their photographer. I look forward to keeping intouch with these two as the years pass and wish them all the love in the world. XO- J
PS. Hope you two enjoy this sneak peek and Merry Christmas!

Last year, I did this post on my 1 year blogging anniversary, however this year I decided looking back at an entire calendar year was more fitting.  I will actually be sharing 12 photos (11 + 1 to grown on).

As I look back each year, I’m humbled by the clients that choose me to capture their families and encouraged by the growth I’ve achieved.  2011 was an amazing year that included over 50 sessions.  I had my first set of solo weddings, traveled to Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville for work and even ventured onto a motocross track for some high speed racing.  I look forward to everything I have in the works for 2012 and hope to continue growing the relationships I’ve established over the past 2 years.  I hope you enjoy this look back at my favorite year of photography thus far!  Thank you to each and every client – I have much appreciated your business and the memories your family has given me! – J

I fell in love with photography for two reasons:
Kids are fantastic and I really enjoy every moment that I spent with my clients AND  because I truly believe pictures have the ability to conjure emotions, feelings and memories.

So on this 10th day of blogging, I won’t say many words, because I do believe a picture is worth a 1,000 of them.  I hope the next 10 images make you smile, laugh or remember a special moment in your life.  As we move into the last  week of 2011, I hope you take the time to enjoy the people in your lives that mean the most…and dont forget to take pictures:)

On the 9th Day of Christmas…..

On the 9th Day of Christmas Jenny Peppers Photography shared with me….9 great holiday gift ideas for anyone on your list
(I pray you have finished your shopping, but if you have not this might help),

8 things I love about my Epiphanie,

7 of my favorite bloopers

6 on a super windy day,

5 Faces of Harrison,

4 of my Holiday Favorites,

3 Moms Expecting,

2 Teeth + 2 Tickling

AND

One Free Starbucks Gift Card

1: For warmth – my absolute favorite blanket EVER!
Last year a close friend blogged about this blanket…and ever since I’ve been hooked.  I sleep with it every night – seriously soft blanket and it comes in a good array of colors.  If you’re lucky enough you’ll get one on sale.  They drop down to $29 after Black Friday every year and I believe they still have some
colors available online.  Go snag one up!

2: For the cook in your house hold – head to Williams Sonoma!
They had some great gifts on sale and if you spend $50 you get $10 free towards your next purchase.  Clearly, I’m a sucker for these kinds of things and Williams Sonoma hooked me into come back at the start of 2012.  If I had to recommend one gift that’s my favorite from this store, it’d be Peppermint Bark – YUM!

3: For the coffee lover – make them a basket with some Starbucks goodies.
I was out shopping and noticed that all of their Holiday specialty items are $30% off this week.  So in the basket you could include a mug or tumbler, a Starbucks Holiday CD and some coffee or a gift card.

4: For the Music lover – (Several options)

– An I-tunes gift card, nothing can beat having some extra dollars to blow on downloading music.

– Or you can head over to Brookstone and pick up a Big Blue Live Wireless Blue Tooth Speaker. I happened to swing into Brookstone and thought this was a cool little gadget.  It works with any
Bluetooth enabled device and the sound output was really great!

5 & 6: For the aspiring photographer or someone who just wants to take pictures (I listed a lot of these so it counts as multiple ideas
– The Rebel T3i is amazing!  In fact, I’d highly recommend any of the Canon Rebel cameras.

– If you’re looking for something a little more user friendly, check out the most up to date Canon ELPH 300 HS….all of the Canon Powershot cameras are fan- flippin’- fantastic!

– Or check out these great camera straps from Spice up your Camera Pepper (LOVE the name)

 7:  Books:
–  I’ve heard awesome things about the Biography of Steve Jobs.  With a man who accomplished so much, it’d probably be worth reading!

–   I’m interested in picking up The Element, by Ken Robinson.

8:    For the gadget guy:
I phone 4S of course!  Who wouldn’t want to chat with a girl named Siri!

9.   For the family:
A gift card for Jenny Peppers Photography…redeemable in 2012 (Wink, Wink, let me know if you are interested)

If you’ve seen other holiday gift ideas feel free to post here or on my facebook page.  With Hanukkah already in full swing and Christmas right around the corner, I’m hoping some of these ideas helped you out – J

On the 8th Day of Christmas…..

On the 8th day of Christmas Jenny Peppers Photography shared with me…..8 things I love about my Epiphanie camera bag:

7 of my favorite bloopers

6 on a super windy day,

5 Faces of Harrison,

4 of my Holiday Favorites,

3 Moms Expecting,

2 Teeth + 2 Tickling

AND

One Free Starbucks Gift Card

I  have been wanting to blog about this camera bag for a year now!   It’s so awesome and I’m glad I finally get to share all the things I love about it!

No 1. The removable adjustable inserts.  I had no idea how much I would like this feature until the wedding I photographed in November.  I was so happy to be able to fit three lenses and a flash into this bag! Oh and I should probably mention it now – the inside of this bag is hot pink….LOVE IT!

No 2. I received it last year for Christmas; it was my favorite present of 2010! My bag is still in fabulous condition…and it goes with me to every session…it even gets tossed around a bit.  So I promise it’s a quality product and well worth the price!

No 3.  I love the fact that it has a removable strap + handles.  When I traveled to Vegas earlier this year, the camera bag came on board with me and doubled as my purse (it even disguised the fact that I was carrying a lot of camera equipment, which at some point I realized I appreciated).  As soon as we arrived in Vegas I put the adjustable cross body strap on and carried it like I do to most sessions.

No 4. Epiphanie offers multiple camera bag options….if you don’t love my Lola…then pick style that suits your personality.  They are all wonderful and all look like regular stylish bags.  I think my favorite thing about these bags is that they offer so many color options!

No 5.  Price.  I said it above and will say it again – it is well worth the money!  These bags are made well and hold up.

No 6. The bags are designed by a woman….need I say more

No 7.  Each bag comes packaged in a beautiful storage bag and includes a motivational card tucked inside the front pocket.  I still have my motivational card and look at it often.

No 8.  And I know it sounds stupid, but I love the little camera tag.

I really cannot express enough how much I’ve enjoyed having this bag over the past year.  As new styles come out I find myself looking to see what my next purchase will be…. (I’ve got my eye on the clover in a vibrant color).

They say the devil is in the details and I’m happy to say this company focuses on the details and goes way beyond to deliver a high quality product that is light weight and stylish.  Kudos to Maile and he team for an amazing product.

Head on over to their website and pick one up for youself….you’ll see what I mean:) Oh and they are giving away lots of prizes on their Facebook page…I think tomorrow is a $100 gift card to Anthropologie.

On the 7th Day of Christmas….

On the 7th day of Christmas Jenny Peppers Photography
shared with me 7 of my favorite bloopers,

6 on a super windy day,

5 Faces of Harrison,

4 of my Holiday Favorites,

3 Moms Expecting,

2 Teeth + 2 Tickling

AND

One Free Starbucks Gift Card

I’m thinking you might be familiar with the TV show, “Kids Say the Darndest Things,” well im here to tell you as a photographer, not only do they say funny stuff….they also do REALLY funny things.  I think part of the reason I enjoy/love photographing children, is that each session is unique and presents its own set of challenges and opportunities!  As a newborn photographer the odds of walking out of a session without being peed on are very slim and you really never know how a two-year old will act until you’re mid session.  My job is fantastic because sometimes, if I’m really lucky, I capture those extremely funny moments.

These are some of my favorite bloopers that have caused me to laugh out loud during the session or given me a great chuckle while editing. To the mom’s of these kids, thank you in advance for not being upset that I shared these.

Blooper No. 1: We were doing our standard family photos when all of a sudden…
well I’d say the picture is worth a 1,000 words. Don’t mom and dad look great!

No. 2: During sessions I tend to follow along with what ever is keeping the kiddos happy. In this case, a water bottle was exactly what Jalynn wanted for entertainment.  Unfortunately for me, moms typically don’t want water bottles in their family portraits.  So we spent a few minutes hiding the bottle from Jalynn…the hiding spot you may ask…..under her dress.

No. 3: These two twins are awesome to work with!  Imagine trying to get two boys to sit still and actually look toward the camera and possibly smile at the same time!  Some how we always end up with a handful of great shots, but this is how a lot of them go.

No. 4: Oh where to start with this little guy?  Some how a lot of my sessions end by playing in a fountain or with water.  This session was backwards and we began with the water.  I wish I could explain in words how funny this was, but I know I won’t be able to.  Either way Mr. Brooks decided that he wanted to dip his hand and 1/2 of his arm into a fountain then taste the water….this is the face he made each time he tasted the water.

No. 5: Nicklaus wanted to head into this store so bad!! Unfortunately he wasn’t interested in stopping to read the sign.

No. 6: There isn’t much more to say about how fun these kids are – I love working with them!  They were dying to let loose during the session so we did some fun photos and let them enjoy themselves.  I wouldn’t be overly surprised if mom used this one for their holiday cards.

No. 7: Anyone with a toddler knows this is the best kind of kiss you can get…its also fun as a photographer to capture a baby trying to eat their daddy’s nose.  My favorite part, is that dad just kept smiling like nothing was out of the norm.

On the 6th Day of Christmas….

On the 6th day of Christmas Jenny Peppers Photography shared with me a family of six (being troopers) on one of the windiest days ever.

5 Faces of Harrison,

Four of my Holiday Favorites,

Three Moms Expecting,

Two Teeth + Two Tickling

AND

One Free Starbucks Gift Card

These two pictures are from another one of my Holiday Mini Sessions.  This day was unbelievably windy, but we made it work and got some great family shots.  Aren’t her little girls absolutely adorable!?

If you’re ever looking for someone to help you plan a party this mom is the one to call!  You might remember the party she hosted earlier this year around Easter…amazing! You can find her company on my facebook page, look for Ellen Bessette Events under my favorites.
